This is a feature film project to be
directed by Karl Shefelman. The script has been optioned by a producer Scott ("Buzz") Koenig of Opposite Field Pictures,
who is developing it and seeking financing, both domestically and internationally. Both a French and American company have
already expressed interest in co-producing and financing.
The script has been a SEMIFINALIST
in the top screenwriting competitions including the Nicholl Fellowships, Scriptapalooza, and the Fade In Awards. In December of 2005, Karl visited Mali, West Africa to do research before writing the script.
While there he made several contacts and friends as well as scouted and photographed locations. He also got many new ideas
and characters to add to the story, including meeting a young American ethnomusicologist, Cullen Strawn, who introduced Karl
to a group of hunter/musicians. He was invited to a special ceremony honoring local hunters. The Chief hunter/musician, Yoro
Sidibe, expressed interest in the story and even offered to help with casting and locations should production begin. As a
result, Karl wrote Yoro and his pupils in as characters in the screenplay.
